Shafallah announces the end of its summer activity in a joyful atmosphere to celebrate the blessed Eid al-Adha.
The Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities held yesterday the closing ceremony of the summer activity 2023, which began at the beginning of June under the title "We continue for you", during which various presentations were presented, and the parties participating in the activities of the summer activity this year were honored.
This year's summer activity came within the center's programs for the advancement of people with disabilities, supporting habilitation and integration processes, and providing educational and habilitation services to the center's employees throughout the year, as it included many sports, recreational, cultural, social and artistic activities and outside trips. This year's activity program aimed to spread the culture of community awareness of the capabilities of the affiliates and their right to participate in summer activities, provide a recreational environment for the affiliates, and direct the energies of the Shafallah Center affiliates with useful activities under the auspices of specialized teams. On this occasion, Mrs. Lulaa Mohammed Abu Alfin, Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, said that this season was distinguished in terms of the number of participants, participating entities and the quality of the activities, praising the cooperation and positive interaction of families with the center's activities, especially as it is the main factor for the success of any activity.
Abo Alfin emphasized that the center aims, through its activities and events throughout the year, to continue communicating with affiliates, their families, the center's partners and sponsors from companies, ministries, institutions, bodies and civil society institutions, emphasized that this communication and these events gain participants live and interactive experiences that contribute to developing their abilities and skills and help them integrate properly.
Mrs. Lulaa Mohammed Abu Alfin, Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, appreciated the contribution of ministries, institutions and companies in supporting the summer activity this year, as she considered their contribution as part of social responsibility in supporting civil society organizations.
For her part, Mrs. Maryam Al-Sheeb, Director of the Educational Services Department at the Center and supervisor of the summer program, explained that this activity is held annually with the aim of occupying free time and integrating the center's affiliateds with disabilities into society, noting that the events that were organized for all types of disabilities and under the supervision of specialized staffs from the center, Al-Sheeb said: The activities offered in the summer activity varied between artistic, sports, recreational activities and external trips, all of which aim to develop the social skills of the affiliates.
The Director of the Educational Services Department indicated that the participants gained many skills by interacting with the events and programs that were offered during the summer activity period for this season.
And AL-Sheeb said: That the summer activity aimed at spreading awareness and focusing on purposeful educational activities that benefit the child and enjoy them at the same time, and explained that the program was very distinguished by its activities, the size of participation and the efforts of the parties that participated in the summer activity this season.
It is noteworthy that the closing ceremony of the summer activity program «We continue for you» included honoring the supporters of the summer activity by the Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, where the Internal Security Force "Lekhwiya", the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Qatar Assistive Technology Center "Mada", Al Rayyan Municipality, Al Gharafa Sports Club, the Qatar Association for People with Special Needs, the "Awareness (Wa’i)" Club for Special Education at Qatar University, the Duhail Center for Special Needs, Manazel Company, Tila Center, Papa John's Restaurant and Wash Suite stores were honored, as well as the journalist and broadcaster. It is worth noting that the conclusion of the summer activity included many corners for the rituals of Hajj, as the atmosphere of the events was characterized by the celebration of Eid Al-Adha, as the activities included drawings of Hajj, a display screen corner for Hajj rituals, a printing corner on (bags) and another corner for artworks. It also included Eid hospitality activity, which included hot drinks and Eid sweets, and another corner included the design of Eid cards, a corner of Zamzam water and Hajj gifts.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, represented by the Department of Schools and Student Affairs (Programs and Activities Section), also contributed to participating in the conclusion of the summer activity of the Shafallah Center through the (Eid Bag) initiative, where the Shafallah Center affiliateds were handed educational bags containing a story and an activity booklet. The participation of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education comes from its keenness to support integration with state institutions that serve the public interest and to activate the Ministry's role in contributing to the consolidation of educational values among young people.
It is worth noting that the closing ceremony of the summer activity was dominated by an atmosphere of joy and pleasure through the participation of the center's affiliateds with disabilities.
In order to preserve the rights of persons with disabilities in the State of Qatar, the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities was established in 1999, with the aim of providing exemplary services to persons with intellectual disabilities and autism under the age of 21, in the field of education and habilitation, as well as community awareness of their issues and rights in order to obtain a more independent life, and maximize their inclusion in society. Since 2013, the center has been operating under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development and Family.
The Shafallah Center is a distinguished platform and a house of expertise in the field of enhancing the capabilities of people with disabilities and integrating them into society, as Shafallah was keen to keep pace with modern technology and use modern technology to enhance the capabilities of Shafallah affiliateds, and to apply international best practices to suit persons with disabilities.
The center contributes to providing exemplary services for persons with intellectual disabilities and autism in the State of Qatar, which include the fields of education, habilitation, community awareness, and legal support to obtain all life rights and integrate them into Qatari society.
Shafallah also works to promote awareness of the causes of disability, prevent its occurrence, and reduce its occurrence, and provides all modern devices, compensatory and educational means, to enhance the efficiency of the target groups to face their challenges, involve them in daily life and integrate them into society.
