In cooperation with Qatar Debate Center. Shafallah participates in the second league for universities debates
QatarDebate Center, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, in cooperation with the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, organized the second league of university debates in Arabic language, at Qatar University.
«20» teams were participated in the league from «7» universities, which are: «Carnegie Mellon - Qatar University - Lusail University - Georgetown - Doha Institute for Graduate Studies - Texas - A & M - Doha University of Science and Technology», where the number of debaters participating in the league rounds reached 62 debaters, and 26 arbitrators participated in its arbitration.
The teams participating in the universities league debated in the second round on the issue of (employing persons with disabilities in companies, despite the application of some companies to the disguised unemployment policy).
Intellectual debates were be found in the university between the participating teams that contributed to enriching the debate rounds, which included the list of the best speakers of the Universities Debating League.
In this context, Mrs. Jawaher Merit Al-Hajri, Director of the Community Awareness Department at the Shafallah Center, said that holding these debates represents a model of integration between the theoretical and practical aspects in empowering and integrating persons with disabilities in topics that are a challenge for our Qatari society and the international community, as it is a step to invest the energies of youth and harness them to serve the country, the nation and humanity.
Al-Hajri extended her sincere thanks and appreciation to QatarDebate for the good organization of the league, as well as the coaches, volunteers and student debaters who participated in this league. She hopes that the work of organizing debates will continue for the coming years to serve as a platform for university students. At the end of the debates, the winning teams, Qatar University and Georgetown University, were honored, in addition to honoring the best speaker.
